Past Smeal Events

September 25, 2009: Advance Realty Group Real Estate Lecture with Walt Rakowich, CEO ProLogis. The lecture was established in 2004 to recognize the generosity of Peter '73 and Sharon Cocoziello and to provide a platform at Smeal for leading real estate professionals to discuss the issues facing the field. 

May 17, 2009: Senior Sendoff Celebration. The event recognizes Smeal's graduating seniors' grand finale to their college experience.

April 25, 2009: MBA Class of 1984, 1989, 1994, and 1999 Reunion.

April 24, 2009: Scholarship Celebration. The program celebrates our donors' generous support of our outstanding students.

April 17, 2009: Executive Insights with Karen Peetz, Bank of New York Mellon.  The signature speaker series brings high-profile business leaders to the college to connect with students, faculty, and administrators.

April 14, 2009: Melvin Jacobs Retail Leadership Lecture with Christine Cook, SVP-Digital Advertising Sales, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. The lecture series is named in tribute to Melvin Jacobs, a 1947 graduate of Penn State and former chairman and CEO of Saks Fifth Avenue who passed away in 1993. Jacobs' wife, Rosalind "Roz" Jacobs, and daughter, Peggy Jacobs, established an endowment to support lectures by outstanding leaders and chief executives who are shaping the future of the retail industry.

March 26, 2009: G. Albert Shoemaker Lecture in Business Ethics with Keith Darcy, Executive Director, Ethics & Compliance Officer Association. The lecture was established in 1985 by the late G. Albert Shoemaker and his wife, Mercedes. The gift created an endowment to encourage academic and corporate interest in business ethics. The lecture is the centerpiece of the program, which brings together faculty, students, and members of the business community to consider current perspectives in business ethics.

March 20, 2009: Alumni Society Board Awards Dinner. This annual dinner recognizes Smeal alumni and students for their exceptional leadership and dedication to the College.

February 23, 2009: Dean's Alumni Networking Event in Philadelphia, hosted by the Smeal Business Club, Philadelphia Chapter.  Local alumni joined together to hear the latest news from Smeal and engage in a discussion about the College's future with Dean Thomas.

February 20, 2009: Executive Insights with Edward Stack, Chairman and CEO, Dick's Sporting Goods.  The signature speaker series brings high-profile business leaders to the college to connect with students, faculty, and administrators.

January 30, 2009: Executive Insights with Frank Coonelly, President, Pittsburgh Pirates. The signature speaker series brings high-profile business leaders to the college to connect with students, faculty, and administrators.

The lecture was established in 2004 to recognize the generosity of Peter '73 and Sharon Cocoziello and to provide a platform at Smeal for leading real estate professionals to discuss the issues facing the field.
