Gowen is deeply involved in advancing innovative and sustainable technologies. He spearheaded Verizon’s first $1B green bond in 2019 and three subsequent bonds focused on renewable energy, energy efficiency, water conservation, and reforestation. Gowen launched Verizon’s flagship onsite green energy initiative enabling the deployment of 31MW since 2013. Verizon has entered into 20 long-term power purchase agreements totaling 2.6 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity. Gowen oversees Verizon’s SBTs, operational net zero and recycling/waste reduction goals as well as management of end-of-life-cycle material recovery. In addition, Gowen manages the Verizon global supply chain leading $35B of inventory planning and logistics operations.
