Andrea M. Prado is the Strachan Associate Professor of Management and Organizations at INCAE Business School in Costa Rica. Her research explores the role of companies to achieve sustainable development in the countries where they operate, particularly through their corporate social responsibility strategies and the delivery of products and services to low-income segments. She also studies the impact and dynamics of industry self-regulation (e.g., adoption of voluntary certification programs) to promote environmental and labor practices in emerging economies.

Prado has published her research in prestigious academic journals, such as Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Academy of Management Perspectives, and Journal of Business Ethics, books, and book chapters. She received the Best Dissertation Award from the Organizations and Management Division, at the Academy of Management. Prado served as the Academic Director of the Central American Healthcare Initiative (CAHI) since its inception in 2012. CAHI seeks to improve access to quality health services for low-income populations through cost-effective innovations and enhanced management capabilities in the region. Since her appointment at INCAE Business School, Prado developed a research agenda on Global Health and Healthcare Management, that intersects with her interest in sustainability and social enterprises.

Prado received a Ph.D. in Management and Organizations from the Stern School of Business, New York University, an MSc. in International Economics from the University of Essex, United Kingdom, and a BSc. in Economics from the Universidad de Costa Rica. She has been awarded a Fulbright scholarship for her Ph.D. studies and a Chevening scholarship for MSc studies.
