Richard H. Bard ’69 is the founder and chief executive officer of Bard Capital Group, LLC, a private equity investment company with offices in Colorado. He has been involved in the acquisition and operation of a diverse group of private and publicly traded businesses and real estate over the last 30 years, typically taking an active role in operating the companies he invests in, as the chairman or chief executive officer for a period of time.
Bard has been involved in numerous community service and philanthropic activities. This included having served as the chairman of The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He was a recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which is recorded in the U.S. Congressional Record and awarded for encouraging cultural unity and engaging in humanitarian efforts that benefit the United States.
Bard is a founding member of the Smeal College Board of Visitors and the National Development Council at Penn State.
He received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Penn State, earned an M.B.A. from Baruch College of CUNY, and he was bestowed doctor of humane letters by the University of Colorado.
