The Penn State Smeal College of Business Marketing Department strives to enrich the lives of our students by providing top-notch degree programs and an award-winning faculty who conduct research in core areas of the field and who are consistently recognized for their contributions and service to the broader research community.

Degree Programs

The department offers a number of educational opportunities at all levels, including an undergraduate major in marketing, coursework in marketing management through the full-time, resident Smeal MBA Program and Executive MBA Program, and an emphasis in marketing through the Smeal Ph.D. Program.

Faculty and Research

The Marketing Department at Smeal offers a faculty who are among the world's leading scholars in consumer marketing, business-to-business marketing, and quantitative modeling of buyer behavior and firm interaction. The department is consistently ranked in the top 20 marketing departments in the U.S. on research output.

Smeal marketing faculty are also sought-after thought leaders in the business world. The Institute for the Study of Business Markets, led by Penn State marketing faculty, is a prominent center of thought-leadership in the Business to Business (B2B) Marketing and eBusiness areas. Our faculty members regularly consult with companies such as Dupont, IBM, and SAP on important strategic problems. The Center for Sports Business & Research, also led by Penn State marketing faculty, likewise provides thought-leadership in the area of business research on the burgeoning sports industry.
