2017 Award Recipient: Jessie West '17 Accounting

Jessie West is a senior student in the Smeal Integrated 5-Year Master’s of Accounting program. She will graduate in May of 2017 with a Bachelor’s & Master’s in Accounting. While pursuing her minor in Spanish, she studied abroad during the summer of 2015 in Sevilla, Spain. This year and last, West has been serving as the Executive Chair of FOTO, a large special interest organization benefitting THON. FOTO is paired with and supports three Four Diamonds families and is responsible for contributing over $450,000 to THON in the past 5 years, and over $70,000 in 2016. In the summer of 2016, West served as the lead program assistant for the Business Opportunities Summer Session Program (BOSS). For two weeks every summer, the BOSS program works with a group of underrepresented minority high school students to experience the life of a student in the Smeal College of Business and create a better opportunity to attend Penn State University by providing advice and tips on how to network, communicate with business professionals, create resumes, choose a major, and succeed in the classroom and beyond. West has completed internships with the Delaware County Criminal Investigations Division in their Homicide & White Collar Units and the New York/New Jersey U.S. Marshals Regional Task Force in Camden, NJ. Post-graduation, she intends to pursue a career in law enforcement.
