Faculty
As an R1 research university, our mission is to discover as well as disseminate knowledge. Academic research in finance expands our understanding of capital markets in ways that improve the lives of households, employees, and taxpayers. Smeal finance faculty study the economic effects of climate change, green energy, opioid abuse, student debt, bankruptcy law, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency markets, bailouts, remote work, and product delivery, as well as traditional asset pricing and corporate finance questions. Improving corporate policy and capital market efficiency benefits employees, consumers, and pensioners as well as shareholders. The pages below showcase some of our recent and ongoing work. Also included are brief bios of our new colleagues joining our faculty this year.
