Brent Moritz, Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management, Smeal College of Business, Penn State University, has written a popular case (with Dr. Christopher Craighead of the University of Tennessee and formerly my colleague at Penn State) about how firms can deal with a supply chain disruption, yet that was a bankruptcy of a supplier and the impact on a Tier-1 firm. Today the news is about Disruption with a capital “D”. So what are some differences between COVID-19 and other disruptions? There could be more, yet I discuss seven dimensions in this article, which are summarized in Table 1:
