William Lane is the Senior Director Global Government & Corporate Affairs at Caterpillar. Currently, he is working to provide the President with Trade Promotion Authority and is a leader of the Cuba engagement effort.
Bill is one of the business community’s leading advocates for free trade and global engagement. A 40-year Caterpillar veteran, Bill leads a global team of government affairs professionals. In that capacity, he is responsible for Caterpillar’s international advocacy in support of competitiveness, trade liberalization and economic growth. In addition to the Cuba engagement effort, Bill has held numerous leadership positions in Washington chairing the U.S. Latin America Trade Coalition and Russia PNTR Coalition. Caterpillar has always been a supporter for free trade in Cuba. Efforts to ease the U.S. embargo on Cuba lost steam – until Obama’s Dec. 17, 2014, announcement that Washington aimed to re-establish diplomatic relations with the island of 11 million residents. Join Bill as he discusses Caterpillar’s Fortune 500 road map to Cuba and the normalizing of trade relations. Learn from Caterpillar’s experience how to grow your company internationally in this global economy.
