Five Questions with a student...
1. What is your academic rundown?
My academic journey began at Penn State Hazleton, where I participated in Pathway to Success: Summer Start (PaSSS) and started college early. I was a peer tutor for Math 110, Accounting 211, and a learning assistant for Math 110. I was also active in student organizations, serving as the Academic Affairs Chair for Student Government, a member of THON, and a member of the Hazleton Academic Integrity Committee. When I moved to Penn State University Park, I continued my on-campus involvement, including that with the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association (Service Chair) and THON. I was also active with Assistance in Transition to University Park, where I became the Co-Director of Marketing and later the President of the organization. I also served as a point of contact for companies during the Striving Toward Awareness and Respect for Tomorrow (START) Conference and participated in panel discussions for 2+2 students.
2. Why did you choose to major in Management?
I majored in Management because of its versatility and applicability across various industries and professions. This major encompasses many skills, including planning and executing strategies, resource allocation and organization, team management, and goal attainment. Through my coursework, I developed my communication, leadership, decision-making, and interpersonal skills, which will serve me well in my future career. In addition, I have learned the importance of effective teamwork and its impact on achieving successful outcomes. Overall, the Management major has given me a strong foundation of skills and knowledge to apply to various roles and situations.
3. What do you wish you knew earlier in your academic career that you know now?
Looking back, I wish I had realized sooner that it is important to prioritize my own needs and well-being. For a long time, I always prioritized others and neglected my own needs. However, this past semester, I made a conscious effort to take better care of myself and focus on my goals and aspirations. I also learned that it's okay not to be the smartest person in the room and that being challenged and learning from others can be more valuable than taking the easy way out. I have come to appreciate the importance of personal growth and development, and I am excited to continue learning and pushing myself to be the best version of myself.
4. What are your plans after graduating from Penn State?
After graduation, my immediate plan is to visit India to spend time with my family. It has been a while since I have seen them, and I look forward to catching up and creating new memories. Once I return, I will start my new Human Capital Advisory associate position at KPMG in Philadelphia. I am excited to take on this new role and apply the knowledge and skills I have gained throughout my academic journey. This job will challenge me in new and exciting ways and provide opportunities for personal and professional growth.
5. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy socializing with friends and experiencing different environments. Going out is always a fun way to unwind and catch up with my peers. I am also passionate about travel and love exploring different countries and states. When I am not out and about, I enjoy staying in and catching up on my favorite TV shows and movies, and I am always on the lookout for new books to read. Recently, I have been improving my cooking skills and understanding the basics.
