Dr. Linda Treviño, Distinguished Professor of Organizational Behavior and Ethics
Linda K. Treviño, Ph.D. is Distinguished Professor of Organizational Behavior and Ethics in the Smeal College of Business at Penn State University where she has been for 32 years. Professor Treviño holds a Ph.D. in management, contributing to her focus on ethics as a management and organizational issue. She has published approximately 90 articles, many in the top journals in our field, and three books including a widely-used text “Managing Business Ethics,” soon going into its eighth edition. In 2007, she was elected a member of the Academy of Management Fellows, in recognition of her significant contributions to the science and practice of management. Professor Treviño has addressed many academic and practitioner audiences and her views on business ethics have been quoted in the press. Her research has focused on the impact of individual differences and ethical culture on employee ethical and unethical behavior, ethical leadership, speaking up, and values in organizations among other topics. Her recent research has focused on how scandal affects leaders and organizations, and on the outcomes associated with being an ethical advocate in teams and organizations. Ethisphere named her one of business ethics’ 100 most influential people in 2015. She serves on the steering committee of EthicalSystems.Org. And, in 2018, her research was named among the most impactful because of its representation in Management textbooks and it was ranked in the top 1% by citations in Web of Science from 2006 – 2016. Being the child of Holocaust survivors likely spawned her early interest in understanding what makes people do good and bad things and keeps her motivated to continue researching these topics today.
