Graduate and doctoral students at the Penn State Smeal College of Business have a number of opportunities to engage with sustainability-related material through program concentrations, courses, seminars, and research.

Smeal MBA Program

Within the full-time, residential Smeal MBA Program, students can choose to concentrate in Sustainability and Social Innovation, which provides the skills needed to be change agents within established organizations and to develop new, sustainable business models. Smeal MBA students can also explore issues of sustainability with actual company clients through the Applied Professional Experience Program (APEX), which is an experiential learning experience that serves as a capstone for the program.

In the News: In spring 2014, a team of Penn State Smeal MBA students worked with entrepreneur Sisay Shimelis on an aspect of his ambitious project to improve the quality of life for Ethiopians. The international social business project involved developing a market strategy for the Ethiopian staple food, injera.
