Leadership

Join one of Smeal's nearly 40 student organizations. Supply Chain specific organizations include:

  • Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA)
    The purpose of the Penn State student chapter of the SCMA is to foster academic and professional advancement in the supply chain field, promote the exchange of knowledge, experience, ideas, and cooperation among its members and lead the evolving supply chain management profession.
  • APICS - Penn State University Park chapter
    Aims to develop professional efficiency in operation management through study, research, and application of scientific methods.
  • Management Information Systems Association (MISA)
    MISA builds academic and career opportunities for Management Science and Information Systems majors and promotes the program among students, faculty, and corporate recruiters.
  • SAP Student Interest Group (SAP SIG)
    One of the newest and fastest-growing Smeal organizations that provides opportunities for members to learn about SAP and general ERP systems through speakers from industry and structured tutorial sessions with the Penn State SAP System. SAP brings traditionally isolated people together through software processes.
  • Business and Society House (BASH)
    Located in the Holmes Building of North Halls, the Business and Society House is the special living option for Business majors, however students from all majors are welcome.

Academic Excellence

Many of our Supply Chain students are also part of the Schreyer Honors College (SHC). SHC promotes achieving academic excellence with integrity, building a global perspective, and creating opportunities for leadership and civic engagement.

Designed for high-achieving students who have been accepted to the Smeal College of Business, the Sapphire Leadership Program aims to empower student leaders of integrity to make an impact on business and society.

In the News: Thanks to help from Bob Novack, associate professor of supply chain and information systems at the Penn State Smeal College of Business, the State College Area High School in State College, Pa., offers a series of supply chain courses to introduce high school students to the profession. “Supply chain was one of the fastest growing careers in Pennsylvania, and State High is one of the single highest suppliers of students to Smeal,” Dr. Robert Novack.

The Supply Chain Department also offers students multiple scholarship opportunities.
