Cabelly Award Recipients
Overview of Award & Application Process
Through the generous support of Dr. Alan Cabelly, a Penn State alumnus and Professor Emeritus at Portland State University, the Department of Management & Organization will present the "The Alan M. Cabelly Award for Excellence in Human Resource Management.” The Cabelly Award provides one $2,500 gift to reward a graduating senior who has been successful in his or her human capital studies and who has also contributed to the campus and community. Dr. Cabelly's vision is that this gift will help a graduating senior as they make the transition from student to human resources professional.
Awards are granted each Spring semester, based upon the following criteria:
- Semester 8 (senior)*
- Major in management*
- Minimum GPA of 3.25*
- Involvement in Management & Organization Student Organizations+
- Involvement in Smeal Student Organizations+
- Leadership position(s) in M&O or Smeal Student Organizations+
- Evidence of academic achievement through faculty-directed research or independent study groups+
- Community service/volunteering+

Human capital students who are graduating in the spring are eligible to apply for this competitive award and are encouraged to participate in the self-nomination process.

2022 Cabelly Award Recipient: Xiangning Li
Xiangning Li is a senior majoring in Management with a minor in Labor and Employment Relations. I have interests in calling attention to issues related to diversity and inclusion, hoping to improve working conditions in the future. I am passionate about life-long studying and learning. With regularly attending events and club activities, I have harvested knowledge in various fields and enhanced my abilities.
