Bob Walter serves as the Head of the Applied Enterprise Systems Department within the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) on the main campus of Penn State University.  ARL serves as a DOD university affiliated research center, or UARC, and conducts fundamental applied research on behalf of DOD program managers.  ARL’s mission is to conduct research, transition results to DOD, and support the university’s education mission.

Bob has 25 years of DOD experience in industry and academia in enterprise architectures, supply chain management, maintenance, command and control, TEMPEST, communications security, interoperability, and standards.  His present projects include USMC Autonomic Logistics, Army-Marine Corps Logistics Interoperability Demonstration (AMLID), Global Combat Support System-Marine Corps (GCSS-MC), and Army Common Logistics Operating Environment (CLOE).

He holds degrees in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University and Applied Physics from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania.
