Dell Technologies is again sponsoring an exciting real-world learning opportunity for Penn State University Park freshmen and sophomore students interested in the Supply Chain and Information Systems (SCIS) or Management Information Systems (MIS) majors.

Selected teams participating in the Dell Case Competition will gain important insights interacting with Dell Technologies professionals and Supply Chain and Information Systems faculty, gain the confidence to compete in future case competitions, build their analytical and presentation skill sets, and, yes, also win cash awards totaling $2,400!

It is the responsibility of participants to stay informed of the Dell Case Competition guidelines, resources, important dates, and deadlines. Individuals or teams that do not meet all requirements outlined below or submit incomplete registrations will be disqualified.

Eligibility

All Penn State University Park freshmen and sophomore students in Smeal or intended for Smeal, especially with an interest in the Supply Chain and Information Systems (SCIS) or Management Information Systems (MIS) majors are encouraged to compete in the case competition.

Registration

  • Penn State University Park freshmen and sophomore students in Smeal or intended for Smeal, especially with an interest in the SCIS or MIS majors are eligible.
  • You can register as a team (up to four to five team members) or as an individual to be assigned to a team by the application deadline, 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday, March 4, 2020.
  • Dell requires teams of four or five members and reserves the right to add individuals to teams of lesser members.
  • It is important to submit all your application information and materials early, as participation will be limited to the first 32 complete submissions.
  • All registered teams and individuals will be notified if they have qualified to participate in the case competition prior to the Wednesday, March 18th, Dell Case Competition Kickoff.

Guidelines

  • Participating teams must attend the Dell Case Competition Kickoff on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Classroom 124 in the Smeal Business Building. Dell Technologies representatives will present the competition's supply chain business case.
  • Participating teams must attend the Dell Case Competition Workshop led by SCIS faculty on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Classroom 106 in the Smeal Business Building. Teams will learn how to conduct a qualitative and quantitative case study analysis and how to create and effectively present a strategic case study solution.
  • Participating teams must schedule and participate in the Dell Case Competition final team presentations on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, Conference Room 487 in the Smeal Business Building for a panel of Dell Technologies judges (scheduling details will be provided closer to the final presentation date). Presentations will be formatted in PowerPoint and will be 15 to 20 minutes followed by a 10 minute Q&A.
  • Participating teams must attend the Dell Case Competition Award Ceremony announcing the top two teams on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Room 217 in the Smeal Business Building. The first-place team will receive $1,600, and the second-place team will receive $800.
