Sean Trainor serves as senior vice president of Global Operations Engineering and Technology at Dell.  He is responsible for new product introduction and operations engineering for all of Dell’s products across the worldwide supply chain.  Trainor’s teams form the linchpin between product research and development and supply chain operations to enable flawless product and solution delivery.

Prior to May 2014, Trainor served as executive director of many transformative teams at Dell. He was responsible for leading and transforming Dell’s Client Solutions Validation Engineering, where his teams integrated various testing functions into a cohesive experience-based validation function that drove significant gains in product experience and quality. Earlier, Trainor led Consumer and Small/Medium Business Product Quality and his teams were responsible for customer experience and quality for Dell’s award winning Alienware, XPS, Inspiron, and Vostro families of computing products.  In 2008 through 2011, while living in Singapore, Trainor led Global Supply Chain and Fulfillment and his teams drove the end-to-end transformation of Dell’s global supply chain and fulfillment model aimed at providing the lowest cost and best value of products for customers.

Trainor joined Dell in January 2000 as senior manager of Dell Americas Operations, and oversaw desktop manufacturing operations in Austin, Texas.  He then progressed through senior leadership roles in areas including factory and distribution operations, service parts procurement and demand/supply, product/process engineering and new product introduction.

Prior to joining Dell, Trainor worked for General Electric in various supply chain operations leadership roles including technology leader in the Industrial Systems Business. He brings more than 25 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, supply chain management, and product development.

Trainor earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from GMI Engineering and Management Institute, and a master’s degree in business administration from Louisiana State University.  He serves on the board of the Penn State Center for Supply Chain Research.  Trainor lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife and two children.
