Information about Penn State Smeal faculty teaching the Graduate Accounting Certificate program. Faculty are skilled in teaching financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, and taxation.

Scott CollinsDr. Scott Collins, clinical assistant professor of accounting and director of the one-year master of accounting program, is teaching Managerial Accounting (ACCTG 814) for the Graduate Certificate in Corporate Accounting Foundations program. Dr. Collins brings over 15 years of experience in accounting practice and teaching into his current position at Penn State, including professional accounting experience with Arthur Andersen, General Mills, and an internet startup company. He has previously taught financial and managerial accounting at several universities in the Southern California area. More about Dr. Collins 

Shelley CurlingDr. Shelley Curling, instructor of accounting, is teaching Auditing (ACCTG 813) as part of the Graduate Certificate in Corporate Accounting Foundations. Since 2008, Dr. Curling has taught at Smeal auditing, managerial accounting, intermediate financial accounting, and introduction to financial and managerial accounting. Previously, she worked as a cost accountant for Texstar Industries in Grand Prairie, Texas. She holds a Ph.D. from Penn State. More about Dr. Curling

Ed JenkinsMr. Ed Jenkins, instructor of accounting, is teaching Taxation (ACCTG 812) as part of the Graduate Certificate in Corporate Accounting Foundations. Mr. Jenkins is a seasoned business executive and educator with an extensive background in tax, manufacturing, and business. With more than 30 years in the accounting profession, Mr. Jenkins is an alumnus of three of the remaining “Big 4” CPA firms and is a member of the PICPA Board of Directors and AICPA Council. In addition to teaching at Penn State, Mr. Jenkins stays current in his profession as a consultant in tax at Boyer & Ritter, LLC. More about Mr. Jenkins

Barbara YenerDr. Barbara Yener, instructor of accounting, is the director of the Graduate Certificate in Corporate Accounting Foundations and is teaching Financial Accounting (MBADM 811) in the program. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant with real-world experience in public accounting. Prior to teaching at Penn State, Dr. Yener taught a variety of retailing and accounting courses at Purdue University, Utah State University, Bucknell University, and Juniata College.
