On April 29, 2016, the Center for Global Business Studies held a conference titled “Penn State and the Global Oil and Gas Industry.”

The energy industry remains pivotal in shaping the global business environment, and Penn State is one of the few universities in the nation conducting research in all five energy sectors. On April 29, the Center for Global Business Studies at the Penn State Smeal College of Business hosted a symposium focusing on the global oil and gas industry and how businesses and universities can collaborate on this key concern.

Dean Charles H. Whiteman gave opening remarks, and additional presentations featured Penn State professors currently helming institutes concerned with energy issues. Honored guest Mr. Basil Abul-Hamayel, President of Aramco Services Company, delivered the keynote address highlighting Aramco’s operations in the energy industry.

The conference addressed the following topics:

  • Penn State’s academic role and research operations within the energy industry
  • Saudi Aramco’s domestic and international energy operations
  • Global trends that present formidable challenges to oil & gas industry leaders

We at the CGBS thank you for attending the April 29 conference to learn more about Penn State’s position within this globally significant context.
