Michelle Houser

Michelle began her role as the senior director of development for the Smeal College of Business in March 2015.  She works with a team of development, alumni relations, and career services professionals to provide philanthropic and engagement opportunities for 74,000 alumni of the college.

Michelle previously held the appointment of director of development and alumni relations for the College of Education at Penn State.  Prior to returning to Penn State, Michelle served as a major gifts officer for the Medical and Health Sciences Foundation at the University of Pittsburgh and the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Michelle began her career in development and alumni relations at Allegheny College.

Michelle earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Penn State.

Elizabeth Beck

Betsy Beck is administrative support coordinator for the Smeal College of Business. In this role she supports the fundraising activities of the college, with a special focus on staff travel and support for the senior director of development.

Betsy joined the Smeal team in January 2009 following four years in Development with the College of Information Sciences and Technology. Betsy holds a degree in psychology from Penn State.

Elizabeth Beck

Anne Louise Cropp

Anne Louise is a writer for the Smeal College, focusing her efforts on fundraising support for the development team.

She joined the Smeal Development team in December 2014. Prior to that, she spent thirteen years in the investment industry, focusing primarily on client service and reporting.  She also has experience as a customer relations representative for the University’s Athletics Department.

Anne Louise holds a B.S. in Nursing, and a M.H.A. and M.B.A., all from Penn State.

Kate Emmick

Kate is the director of donor relations for the Smeal College of Business. Kate is responsible for a comprehensive stewardship plan for the college and manages all aspects of donor relations including development events that honor the college’s volunteers and donors. She is also tasked with managing a communications strategy for stewardship and implementing individualized stewardship plans for the college's top donors.

Kate joined Penn State and the College of Education in 2011. During her tenure, she managed donor recognition events, was responsible for all donor relations reporting and communications to the college’s supporters and also created a comprehensive stewardship plan for the college. Before joining Penn State, Kate worked at Conservation International for nine years in various roles coordinating solicitations, donor communications, fundraising events, and board meetings.

Heide Gibson

Heide joined the Smeal College of Business as director of major gifts in June 2017. Previously, she worked with Penn State’s Office of Gift Planning, advising and supporting multiple units with cultivation strategies and gift vehicle recommendations. Prior to joining Penn State, she worked for Northern Arizona University serving first as Assistant Director of Development for Parent Relations, and then, as Assistant Director of Major and Planned Gifts for University Advancement. She also has experience as the Director of Development and Philanthropic Services Manager for the Community Foundation of Broward in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

In this role, Heide will meet with alumni and friends of the college in Northern California, Oregon, and Washington, as well as the western coast of Florida and the greater Pittsburgh area.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Heide has also earned the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy designation from the American College.

Nathan Leopard

Nathan joined the Smeal College of Business in May 2015 as a director of major gifts. In his role, Nathan will be working with alumni and friends of Smeal College to raise philanthropic support in Connecticut, central and northern New Jersey, New York, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and eastern Florida.

Nathan came to Penn State in 2004, and has worked in development roles at Affinity Connection, Inc., the American Cancer Society, and served as an associate director for the Schreyer Honors College at Penn State (2013-2015).  Nathan holds a B.S. in public relations from Northwest Missouri State University and a M.S. in college student personnel from Miami University.

Nathan resides in the greater State College community with his wife, Jen, and his two children, Caroline and Jack.

Katie McMurray

As director of major gifts for the Smeal College of Business, Katie McMurray works with alumni and friends to build philanthropic support for the College.  Her focus is in Virginia, Southern California, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, as well as some areas of Central Pennsylvania. Katie also helps to support Smeal’s Accounting Advisory Board and is the co-advisor to Penn State’s Women in Business Chapter.

Katie joined Smeal in October of 2015 having most recently worked as an Associate Director of Alumni Relations and Development at the Michigan State University Honors College.  She holds a BA in communication arts from Ohio Northern University, an MA in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education (HALE) from Michigan State University, and is currently pursuing graduate studies at Penn State University World Campus.

David Minkoff

As assistant director of development for the Smeal College of Business, David Minkoff works to identify alumni and friends with a strong affinity for the college and solicit their philanthropic support.  His focus is on working with prospective donors in Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and Arizona.

David joined the Smeal Development team in November 2014.  Prior to this, he was a Realtor, owned various businesses and had a long career in media sales and sales management including five years of public television underwriting.  David is a graduate of Smeal with a degree in Marketing and has a MBA from Temple University.

Pamela Royer

Pam Royer is the development and alumni relations assistant for the Smeal College of Business.  In this role she supports the fundraising activities of the college, with a special focus on staff travel, budget, and football.

Andrew Strause

Andrew Strause is assistant director of major gifts for the Smeal College of Business. In this role, he will be traveling to Harrisburg and Southern New Jersey in order to increase philanthropic support for the college.

He joined the development team in June, 2017. Previously, he was a part of Penn State’s DDAR Summer Intern program in 2016, working with the Office of Annual Giving. Andrew also has experience as donor and alumni relations development captain for THON 2016 and as development captain for the Hospitality committee for THON 2017, and was deputy lead of student outreach with Penn State Lunar Lion.

Andrew earned a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems and a minor in Sociology from Penn State.

Aaron Tressler

As associate director of development for the Smeal College of Business, Aaron Tressler works to identify alumni and friends with strong affinity for the college and solicit their philanthropic support. His geographic focus is Metro Philadelphia and Metro New York City.

Aaron joined the Smeal Development team in January 2013. Previously, he was with The Tavern Restaurant of State College. A member of the varsity baseball team, Aaron graduated from Penn State with a degree in Turfgrass Science and spent 5 years as a professional baseball player with the Toronto Blue Jays Organization.
