Alex Goldberg ’62, ’64 M.B.A. retired from Ford Motor Company in 1999 after a 35-year career.  His last position was President, Ford Motor Land Development Company, Ford’s subsidiary for Corporate Real Estate, which manages construction and property management of all Ford facilities worldwide.

Previously, he held leadership positions with the automaker in the Finance and Planning functions within Manufacturing, Product Development and Corporate Staff activities.  Primary areas of responsibilities included financial planning and analysis, cost control, and strategic and business planning for both domestic and international operations.  Key positions included Controller of World Wide Powertrain Operations, Director of Finance and Advanced Product Planning for Ford of Europe and Chairman of Korean Automotive Components Group, a JV between Ford Motor and the Korean Explosives Group.

Prior to joining Ford Motor, Mr. Goldberg obtained both a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering in 1962 and an MBA degree in 1964 from Penn State.  In 1968, he became lead Ford Motor recruiter for Penn State and led efforts to hire over 200 Penn State MBA graduates during his career.  Mr. Goldberg was instrumental in the founding of the Smeal MBA Alumni Association and became its first Chairman.  In 1997, he was named a Penn State Alumni Fellow and served as commencement speaker at the MBA graduation ceremonies.  Presently, Mr. Goldberg serves on the Smeal College Board of Visitors.

Since retirement, Mr. Goldberg has been active in supporting the communities in which he lives through involvement in start-ups and charitable and civic organizations.  He and his wife Susan spend time with their six children and eight grandchildren while pursuing interests in skiing, hiking, golfing and traveling.
