Biography of Anthony Buzzelli

Anthony Buzzelli ’71 has led his career guided by two principles: outstanding service to people development and an unswerving dedication to community service. To him, these activities are inseparable.  “Community involvement can enhance leadership skills, promote diversity of thought and build vital relationships by creating shared trust and respect,” he says.

For 40 years, Buzzelli has held key positions at Deloitte. He was vice chairman, regional managing partner for the Pacific Southwest. He has been the national managing partner, U.S. Regions, served on the executive committee, and has been a member of Deloitte’s board of directors and operating committee. From 2001 to 2003, he was the deputy managing partner for the U.S. firms. In addition, he was the regional managing partner of the Central Atlantic region for over five years and the partner-in-charge of the Pittsburgh audit department for eight years.

In conjunction with his Deloitte service, Buzzelli has dedicated himself to supporting the communities in which he worked and lived. As part of his efforts in Southern California, he serves as board member to the following organizations: United Way Los Angeles, LA Police Foundation, World Affairs Council, Town Hall Los Angeles, Chairman of the Southern California Leadership Network and Trustee and Audit Committee Chair of the California Science Center. He has also served on the Accounting Advisory Board for the Smeal College and was named Accounting Alumnus of the Year in 2003.

Buzzelli graduated with a degree in accounting in 1971. He now serves on the boards of S. Cal AAA, a $4 billion, 13 million member services organization, as well as MedStar, a ten hospital, $4 billion healthcare organization that includes the Washington Hospital Center and Georgetown Hospital.
