Join the celebration as the college looks to its future and breaks ground for its new building at 3 p.m. on Friday, October 31, on the corner of Park Avenue and Shortlidge Road. As part of the event, you're invited to contribute an item that represents business over the past 50 years to the Smeal College Time Capsule Project. After the ceremony, join Linda Wolf, Chairman & CEO of Leo Burnett Worldwide, for her lecture entitled "Brand-Building in the 21st Century." Smeal Professor Helps Turkey Establish Mortgage System
Abdullah Yavas, Professor of Business Administration, has been invited to assist in developing a mortgage system for residential buyers in Turkey. He will lead a study of mortgage systems around the globe and make recommendations for establishment of the new system. Smeal Launches First-Of-Its-Kind Business Search Engine
The eBusiness Research Center (eBRC) at Smeal has announced the launch of SmealSearch, a new niche search engine that will access the most current business research. The search tool is becoming the largest and most comprehensive collection of business research documents on the Internet. Dean Olian Chairs AACSB's Doctoral Faculty Commission
A growing shortage of doctoral business faculty stands as the dominant threat to the future education and research contributions of business schools according to a recent AACSB report from the Doctoral Faculty Commission (DFC), chaired by Smeal Dean Judy Olian. New Book Helps Investors Value Stock
Smeal Finance Professors J. Randall Wooldridge and Gary Gray, along with Patrick Cusatis of Penn State Harrisburg, have updated their 1999 book, Streetsmart Guide to Valuing a Stock. The new edition from McGraw-Hill explains the ten principles of finance and describes how investors can use them to make better financial decisions and to estimate a stock's value. IBM Honors Sundaresan With Prestigious Faculty Award
For his research analyzing the role and impact of IT standards on on-demand computing, IBM has selected Shankar Sundaresan, Assistant Professor of Information Systems, as a recipient of its 2003 IBM Faculty Award. The award is intended to recognize and advance collaboration between IBM and researchers at leading universities worldwide.
