Hambrick has been selected as one of the charter members of the Fellows of the Strategic Management Society. The new organization consists of the 25 individuals who have made the most significant contributions to the field throughout its history. CGBS To Host Workforce Conference The Oct. 12-13 “Workforce of the Future” conference, presented by Smeal’s Center for Global business Studies, will focus on the impact of workforce changes on global companies. Smeal Hosts Symposium On Small And Medium-Sized Business North America’s small- and medium-sized companies are adapting to limited growth opportunities on their home turf by focusing instead on foreign markets. The Third Klein Symposium on Oct. 14 will feature presentations by executives who’ve helped their firms thrive internationally. Undergraduate, MBA Programs Advance In Rankings Smeal ranks 18th overall – up from 20th last year – and 11th among public business schools in the latest edition of U.S. News & World Report's “Best Undergraduate Business Programs” feature. The Smeal MBA Program improved to 23rd overall and 8th among public schools in the latest Forbes’ ranking, which measures return on investment five years after graduation. SC&IS Professor Leads Regional Rail Study Evelyn Thomchick, associate professor of supply chain management, recently served as project leader of a Penn State Transportation Institute study to assess the impact of planned regional rail service in Southern Pennsylvania. Penn State Executive Programs Partners On Financial Marketing Summit Ralph Oliva, executive director of Smeal’s Institute for the Study of Business Markets, will co-host an Oct. 17 and 18 executive education summit in New York City for leaders in the financial services industry. Offered jointly with the Financial Communications Society, the program will address topics such as brand management, marketing communications, and return on investment.
