Here's the latest issue of SMEAL Zine, a monthly electronic magazine designed to keep alumni and friends in touch with the latest news and information from Penn State's Smeal College of Business and its nationally ranked programs and world-renowned research centers.

Building Profile

Designed by renowned Robert A.M. Stern Architects, the new 210,000-square-foot building will unite a business community of students, teachers, researchers, alumni, and corporate partners. Smeal’s new home features 22 undergraduate and MBA classrooms, six advanced business labs, a 55-seat trading room, 10 recruiter interview rooms, a food court, an auditorium, a soaring four-story atrium that can seat 400, and numerous other amenities.

Freeh Presentation To Highlight Dedication

Society Names Hambrick Among Charter Members

Smeal Chaired Professor of Management Donald C. Hambrick has been selected as one of the charter members of the Fellows of the Strategic Management Society. The new organization consists of the 25 individuals who have made the most significant contributions to the field throughout its history. Undergraduate, MBA Programs Advance In Rankings

Smeal ranks 18th overall – up from 20th last year – and 11th among public business schools in the latest edition of U.S. News & World Report's “Best Undergraduate Business Programs” feature. Read more at http://www.smeal.psu.edu/news/releases/aug05/usnews.html.

New LionTrader Now Online

The latest issue of LionTrader features an inside look at the student-managed Nittany Lion Fund and a conversation about the state of the job market. The LionTrader is produced by the student staff of the Smeal Trading Room, which will be open for tours in its new Business Building location from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on home football Saturdays beginning Oct. 1. SC&IS Professor Leads Regional Rail Study

Evelyn Thomchick, associate professor of supply chain management, recently served as project leader of a Penn State Transportation Institute study to assess the impact of planned regional rail service in Southern Pennsylvania. Penn State Executive Programs Partners On Financial Marketing Summit

Ralph Oliva, executive director of Smeal’s Institute for the Study of Business Markets, will co-host an Oct. 17 and 18 executive education summit in New York City for leaders in the financial services industry. Offered jointly with the Financial Communications Society, the program will address topics such as brand management, marketing communications, and return on investment.
