MBA Students Develop New Product To Promote Oral Hygiene In Kids
After a semester of exposure to the tools and processes of new product development, a group of Smeal MBA students put their classroom knowledge to use by developing a new product of their own. Their invention for an innovative electronic toothbrush for children has entered a key phase in its evolution just as the 2003-04 year is set to begin. Smeal Collaborates On Technology Transfer Course
In partnership with the College of Engineering and Penn State’s Hershey Medical Center,
Smeal’s Farrell Center for Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship has won a grant from
the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance for the development of a course that
provides students with hands-on experience in converting new inventions into commercial

Management Professor Named To Ethics Initiative
Linda Klebe Treviño, Franklin H. Cook Fellow in Business Ethics at Smeal, has been named to
the new Ethics Education Task Force for AACSB, which is charged with identifying potential
enhancements for business education and with reviewing the accreditation standards for ethics

Smeal Business Law Professors Honored At Annual Meeting
Jeff Sharp, Associate Professor of Business Law, won both the Charles Hewett Memorial Master Teacher Award as top presenter and the Ralph C. Hoeber Outstanding Article Award at the recent annual meeting of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business. Daniel Cahoy, Assistant Professor of Business Law, won the Hoeber Excellence in Research Award at the event. U.S. News Ranks Undergraduate Program Among Nation’s Best
Smeal tied for 17th overall and 10th among public universities in the 2004 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Undergraduate Business Programs” issue. The college was also ranked in several specialty areas, with Management, Marketing, Productions and Operations Management, Real Estate, and Supply Chain Management all ranking in the top 12. Read

Smeal Ph.D. Graduate Wins Dissertation Award
Kevin Corley, a 2002 Ph.D. graduate in Management and now an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at the University of Illinois, won the 2003 Newman Award for the best paper based on a dissertation during the Academy of Management’s annual meeting in Seattle.
