Cocoziellos’ Pledge Supports Building Construction

Sharon and Peter J. Cocoziello (’73) have pledged $1 million to support construction on Smeal’s new building, which is one year from completion. The Peter and Sharon Cocoziello Real Estate Suite and the Peter and Sharon Cocoziello Real Estate Lectureship will be named in recognition of the couple’s generosity. Study: Manufacturing Competitiveness Lies In Exporting

Smaller U.S. manufacturers can help offset the economic impact of overseas competition by focusing on becoming more efficient product exporters according to one of several studies recently conducted by researchers at Smeal and Penn State with a grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Stevens Appointed Smeal Undergraduate Program Associate Dean

Professor of Management John “Jack” Stevens will assume the role of associate dean for undergraduate programs at the college in August. He will replace David Christy, who has accepted appointment as dean of the Orfalea College of Business at California Polytechnic State University. Farrell Center Director Appointed To IMC Board

Tony Warren, director of Smeal’s Farrell Center for Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship, has been named to the board of directors of the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC), an organization focused on enhancing the competitive performance of Central Pennsylvania’s small and mid-sized manufacturers. Marketing Professor Wins Research Excellence Award

At the American Marketing Association Summer Educators’ Conference in Boston, Professor of Marketing Hans Baumgartner will receive the 2004 Excellence in Research Award for his co-authored paper entitled “Assessing Measurement Invariance in Cross-National Consumer Research.” The award recognizes researchers who significantly influence the direction of global marketing. Patrick Cataldo
Patrick CataldoAssociate Dean, Penn State Executive Programs

During a career that spans more than three decades, Cataldo has led employee and customer learning and development in a variety of companies including Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), The Home Depot, Bellcore, Digital Equipment Corporation, and Honeywell Information Services. Immediately prior to joining Smeal in March, Cataldo was chief learning officer for SAIC and group vice president for its largest, wholly owned subsidiary, Telcordia Technologies, and drove the launch of a comprehensive university learning program. He oversees all facets of Penn State Executive Programs including strategy, marketing, sales, and operations.
