Armed with a business plan that could revolutionize wireless communication, a team of four Smeal MBA students has been awarded $35,000 by Ben Franklin Technology Partners, a prize that will help FrontaLobe, Inc. move forward in its development as a viable business. Charles C. Snow has been named Chair of the Management & Organization Department in the Smeal College. He replaces Linda Klebe Treviņo, who is stepping down as Chair after four years to focus more time on teaching and research. ISBM Meeting Welcomes All-Star Speaker Lineup

Keynote speaker Adrian Slywotzky will be joined by a distinguished lineup of thought leaders from the world of value-based business marketing during the 20th annual meeting for members of the Institute for the Study of Business Markets (ISBM) on August 14 and 15 at University Park. Smeal Research: Investor Psychology Impacts Trading Volume

Thorough financial analysis is not the only driver of investors' stock-trading decisions according to a study coauthored by Smeal's Steven Huddart, which found that some investors are prompted to trade simply because the current price is above the range of prices at which the stock has traded over the past year. Smeal Professor Lifts His Way To World Powerlifting Championships

Wayne DeSarbo, Smeal Distinguished Professor of Marketing, recently won the Natural Athlete Strength Association USA National Championship in the 280-pound weight class, and set three USA and world records in his age/weight category. Penn State Executive Programs Offers Scholarships

As part of its 50th anniversary celebration, Smeal has created a limited number of scholarships of $5,000 each for enrollment in its three-week Executive Management Program, which begins in September. Scholarship applicants must have a Penn State affiliation to be considered and will be evaluated on their positions of leadership and responsibility, management experience, and potential contributions to their organizations. Dr. Charles C. SnowDr. Charles C. Snow

Snow, the Mellon Foundation Faculty Fellow in Business Administration, begins in his role of Management & Organization Chair in July. He previously served in that position from 1985 to 1991. Snow's areas of expertise include strategic planning, new organizational forms, and global strategy and organization. He is coauthor of the 1978 landmark book Organizational Strategy, Structure, and Process, which was recently reissued by Stanford University Press as part of its Stanford Business Classics series.
