Smeal Investigates Growth & Energy In Philadelphia
The college will host two keynote events on April 14 at The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia. The Executive Forum: Perspectives on Driving Growth in Today's Economy will feature insights from leading faculty experts on global trends, leadership, and shareholder value. An evening panel discussion, Conversations with Business Leaders: The Role of Energy in Today's Economy, will feature commentary from top energy executives who serve on the Smeal Board of Visitors. Struthers, Murray To Speak At Smeal Commencement Ceremonies
Richard K. Struthers ’77, vice chairman and chief lending officer of MBNA, will offer the spring commencement address to Smeal undergraduates and their families at 1:30 p.m. on May 15 in the Bryce Jordan Center. Tim Murray ’75, senior managing director at Bear Stearns & Co., will speak at Smeal’s MBA pre-commencement ceremony on May 8. Yavas Receives Dual Honors
Abdullah Yavas, the William Elliott Professor of Business Administration, was recently recognized as a Fellow of the prestigious Weimer School of Advanced Studies in Real Estate and Land Economics. Students Excel At Competitions
Two teams of Smeal undergraduates recently finished third at international case competitions in Los Angeles and Toronto, while a Smeal doctoral candidate earned top honors at Penn State's Graduate Exhibition. USC’s Marshall International Case Competition called on competitors from 24 teams to strategize about the merger of two large biotechnology firms. The 24 teams in the University of Toronto’s Rotman International Trading Competition weathered five rounds of financial trading simulations. Smeal took the top spot among undergraduates. Ching-Hua Chen-Ritzo, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Supply Chain & Information Systems, won first place in the Engineering category at the annual Graduate Exhibition. MBA Program Advances In U.S. News Ranking
The Smeal MBA Program ranks 37th overall and 18th among public universities in the 2006 edition of "America's Best Graduate Schools," which is published by U.S. News & World Report. CSCR To Host 15th Annual Symposium
Smeal's Center for Supply Chain Research will host the R. Hadly Waters Supply Chain Symposium from April 28-29 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel. The event will focus on the need for organizations to have flexible, agile supply chains to meet today’s global business challenges, and will feature keynote addresses by Gary S.
