OUTSOURCING MANAGEMENT LEADS TO SAVINGS
Outsourcing global trade management to third-party providers can save multi-national companies billions, reports a new study by researchers in the Center for Supply Chain Research. The study, "Market Size Estimate and the Potential Savings Associated with Outsourcing the Management of Global Trade Operations," shows the potential savings range from $1.2 billion for consumer product goods to a high of $10.6 billion for the auto/industrial sector. The results can be read online at www.smeal.psu.edu/news/releases/feb02/globaltr.html.

GIFT PROMOTES FACULTY DIVERSITY
William A. Donan has added to his two previous scholarship gifts in Smeal College by endowing the "William A. Donan Professorship," which is designated for an outstanding faculty member from an underrepresented group. The 1968 graduate's gift of $1 million is designed to enhance ethnic diversity among the Smeal College's faculty. Read about this gift online at www.smeal.psu.edu/news/releases/feb02/donan.html.
