Read the Associated Press story on the project online at http://www.smeal.psu.edu/news/innews/dec00/girlscouts.html

NEW ROLES FOR BROKERAGE

There is little room for the role of traditional brokerage in an electronic environment, especially at the institutional level. But that will not mean the disappearance of brokerage intermediaries, according to research by Ian Domowitz, Mary Jean and Frank P. Smeal Professor of Finance and immediate past-chair of NASDAQ's Economic Advisory Board. An overview of his presentation to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York on the future of financial markets is at http://www.smeal.psu.edu/news/releases/jan01/newroles.html

DEAN OUTLINES CHANGES TO SMEAL COLLEGE
