Goldberg Serves As Sole U.S. Expert Regarding Promotion Of Foods To Kids
Marvin Goldberg, the Irving and Irene Bard Professor of Marketing and chair of the Smeal Department of Marketing, was the sole representative from the United States at a recent expert panel convened in the United Kingdom to investigate the impact of promotion of foods to children. Transportation Report Undermines Great Lakes Navigation Expansion
Evelyn Thomchick, associate professor of supply chain management at Smeal, is the lead author on a recent study by the Pennsylvania Transportation Institute. The study challenges official claims that expanding the Great Lakes navigation system and St. Lawrence Seaway will rejuvenate the regional economy or attract large-volume container service. According to a 2003 report from the Aspen Institute, MBA students across the country are seeking enhanced content on corporate social responsibility from their business schools. Smeal Students Team Up With Nittany Bank For Innovative ATM Project
The Association for Educated Banking (AEB), an undergraduate student organization at Smeal, is launching a hands-on research and planning project with Nittany Bank to lay the groundwork for new banking services in the State College area. Tune In: Next Episode Of 'About Business' Airs Jan. 6
In increasing numbers, Americans are expressing concern about health-care premiums that have soared by 70 percent in the past five years, compared to annual wage increases of just 3 to 4 percent. The next episode of "About Business," a monthly call-in show hosted by Smeal dean Judy Olian, will focus on the escalating costs of health care for both employees and businesses. | Marvin Goldberg |
Chair, Department of Marketing
With expertise in the areas of advertising effects, marketing to youth, social marketing, and tobacco and alcohol advertising, Goldberg's research has been published in a wide variety of scholarly journals including the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of Consumer Psychology, the Journal of Marketing Research, and the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing. He served as interim dean for the Smeal College from 1999-2000 and as served as consultant to a broad array of both public and private organizations, most recently for plaintiff's counsel in tobacco-related litigation.
