The use of prices in evaluating tradeoffs in production and consumption of goods and services is central to firms and individuals as decision-makers.
The role of the government in economy-wide stabilization and growth, as well as its role in regulating markets, is addressed. Economists also examine the suitability of government policy and private decision-making by assessing their benefits and costs, both private and social.
