Internship Placement
Did you know?
- More than half of last year's graduating seniors held internships during their college career.
- At least 70% of employers use internships to "test drive" job candidates before offering permanent employment.
- Employers list internships as the best source of new full-time employees.
- Employers look to their internship programs first for job candidates before opening jobs up to the outside.
- 57% of former interns were offered full-time positions by their internship employer.

Students need professional work experience to compete in the entry-level job market. Companies would like to "test drive" candidates before hiring them. Students would like the opportunity to "feel out" a company before signing on full-time. An internship can provide all of this and more.
Penn State's Smeal Internship Program works with employers to provide internships and co-ops for business students. We post national internship oportunities for all majors on our Web site. Each year the program advertises positions from about 200 employers.
