How to apply for the Sapphire Leadership Program

Applications Now Closed for Fall 2012

The Sapphire Leadership Program is not currently accepting applications for the Fall 2012 first-year cohort.


To apply, please go to the Sapphire Online Application. You will need the following to complete your application:

  1. AP Courses
  2. Awards Received
  3. Activities - Athletic or Co-Curricular
  4. Leadership Positions Held
  5. Community Service Activities
  6. Two Letters of Recommendation (Electronic: you will need to identify the name and email of the persons completing a recommendation for you. The system will send them a recommendation request where they will upload their letter to your application online. If your email address has an underscore "_" in it, the system will not accept the letter, so please have your recommender send their letter directly to meh182@psu.edu)
  7. There will also be two essay questions for you to answer


NOTE:

  • The final deadline to apply is April 13, 2012 by 3:00 p.m.
  • Individuals you are requesting a recommendation letter from do not receive the electronic request for until AFTER you submit your application, therefore it is important to submit your application well in advance of the due date as all pieces are due on that date, including the recommendation letters
  • If your recommenders do not receive the automated email, please have them send your recommendation directly to Meg Brower at meh182@psu.edu no later than 3:00 p.m. on April 13th
  • Early application is recommended as the program can accept only a limited number of students
  • We are only accepting applications from incoming first year students in offered or paid accept status to Smeal College of Business for Summer/Fall 2012

Sapphire Visitation Day

If you received a letter regarding the Sapphire Leadership Program application, you may wish to attend a Sapphire Visitation Day. If you would like to attend one of the visitation days, please go to the Sapphire Visitation Day Registration Site. Note, this visitation day would replace your accepted student visitation day through the Office of Admissions. Please review your letter for additional details.

Junior Gateway Applications Now Closed

Beginning Fall 2012, the Sapphire Leadership Program will be accepting applications from rising sophomores heading for a major in the Smeal College of Business who have earned a CGPA of 3.50 or higher.

To apply, please go to the Sapphire Online Junior Entry Application. You will need the following to complete your application:

  1. Intended Major(s) & Minor(s)
  2. Recent Resume
  3. Answer a General Question, Business-Related Question and Leadership Project Idea
  4. One Letter of Recommendation from an Instructor, Adviser, Coach, Mentor (Electronic: you will need to identify the name and email of the person completing a recommendation for you. The system will send him/her a recommendation request where he/she will upload the letter to your application online)

NOTE:

  • The final deadline to apply is March 14, 2012
