Diversity Enhancement Programs
The Office of Diversity Enhancement Programs offers a number of ways for students to fully experience all that Smeal has to offer through educational support programs, professional development, and networking opportunities. We strive to create a community where students can feel comfortable interacting with their peers and giving them the confidence they need to achieve their educational goals.
BOSS Summer Program: This two-week summer program is for rising high school seniors. Held annually during the last two weeks in June, students will live in residence halls on Penn State’s University Park campus and attend workshops on business courses, the college admissions process, and company visits.
Smeal Prospective Student Info Sessions: High school juniors and their families can arrange a visit to Smeal by contacting the Smeal Undergraduate Education Office at 814-863-1947. Visits typically include a meeting with a Smeal academic adviser, a tour of the Business Building, and a meeting with the Office of Diversity Enhancement Programs. Most visits are conducted on Mondays and Fridays.
Spend a Summer Day: Organized by Penn State’s Undergraduate Admissions Office, high school juniors, seniors, and their families are invited to learn about admissions, academics, and student life at Penn State. During this one-day trip, Smeal will hold an open house for students and families to learn about the majors and services available. The Diversity Enhancement Programs Office will be present to meet families and answer questions.
Spend a Fall Day: Organized by Penn State’s Undergraduate Admissions Office, high school seniors are invited to spend one day and evening during the fall semester visiting the Penn State campus. Students have the opportunity to explore all majors and meet the Smeal Diversity Enhancement Programs staff and advisers during the Academic College Fair held during the trip. Please contact Undergraduate Admissions for more information.
After you have received your offer of admission:
Accepted Student Program: Penn State hosts special visit programs for accepted first-year students (and their families) who have been offered admission to Smeal. The program is unique for each starting campus. At University Park, there are nine dates, beginning in February 2013. If you have been offered admission, you can register for an accepted student program at your campus by using MyPennState. Complete details are available on the Undergraduate Admissions Office’s Information for Students Offered Admission page.
Achiever’s Weekend: Organized by Penn State’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, this program provides a first-hand view of our facilities and personal, one-on-one contact with our faculty, students, and staff over a two-day period. While this program is open to all majors, students offered admission into Smeal will spend half a day with representatives from the Diversity Enhancement Programs Office learning more about the specifics of Smeal.
