Your investment in your university education is a significant financial decision that requires careful advanced planning. The following information will help you estimate the cost of your Smeal College education and anticipate deadlines for aid and scholarship applications.

Penn State Tuition

This site provides information on Penn State tuition and fees, including a calculator to determine a tuition estimate for you.

Room and Board

This site explains the different types of housing and food service plans available to you at Penn State along with costs.

Financial Aid

The Office of Student Aid handles all student loans, grants, scholarships, and aid available to Penn State students. To be eligible for student aid you should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or the FAFSA form before February 15 each year. Some forms of aid will no longer be available to those who apply after February 15.

Scholarships

While the majority of Penn State scholarships are awarded to upper-level undergraduate students with high academic achievement, there are a limited number of scholarship opportunities available to you as a first-year student. These include both need-based and merit-based awards. Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form is required.

Alumni and friends of the Smeal College have endowed scholarships over the years. Academic departments in the college manage these funds, along with gifts from endowed programs. Upper-level students are eligible to apply and are required to fill out a Smeal College Scholarship Application each spring semester to be considered.
