Sustainability Webinars

This page lists activities associated with the Sustainability Council at Smeal.

On March 16, 2010, Smeal hosted a Sustainability Webinar for faculty and students allowing them an extraordinary opportunity to "talk" with three senior executives with corporate-wide responsibility for sustainability.

Participants asked these executives about their company's priorities for sustainability, how they plan and implement initiatives, their successes and challenges, career opportunities in their company, etc.  The executives are members of the Advisory Board of the Smeal Sustainability Council:

  • Dawn Rittenhouse,  Director of Sustainable Development, DuPont
  • Kevin McKnight, Director, EHS and Sustainability, Alcoa
  • Tod Arbogast, Vice President, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility, Avon Products

 

On November 30, 2010, Smeal hosted a second Sustainability Webinar for faculty and students on the topic of "Incentives to Encourage Sustainability in Corporate Decision-Making".

Participants asked these executives about the nature, scope, development and application of sustainability metrics within their companies.  Three executive members of the Advisory Board of the Smeal Sustainability Council participated as panelists:

  • Kevin McKnight, Director, EHS and Sustainability, Alcoa
  • John Disharoon, Sustainable Development Manager, Caterpillar
