The Smeal College enjoys the support of thousands of alumni, friends, corporations and foundations. In fact, more than half of the college's 60,039 alumni have made a gift to Penn State. In the current fiscal year, The Smeal College will receive more than $9,000,000 in gifts and grants.

The Smeal College surpassed its goal of $70,000,000 during the Grand Destiny Campaign , which concluded June 30, 2003. Specific goals within this effort include creating endowments for:

  • Undergraduate scholarships

  • Fellowships for graduate fellowships and to support MBA students in their studies

  • Faculty support, including professorships and endowed chairs

The Smeal College has also been challenged to raise $25 million for the construction of a new home for The Smeal College , to raise funds necessary for the operation of the Trading Room and to support many ongoing programs and new initiatives in the college.

Many alumni and friends have given to one of the 173 specific funds honoring Smeal alumni and faculty, such as:

The G. Kenneth Nelson Endowment to honor the late professor in accounting.

The John Coyle Scholarship and The John Coyle Faculty Fellowship to honor his many years of work in Business Logistics.

The Michael Phillips '98 Memorial MBA Scholarship

The Robert W. Koehler Academic Excellence Endowment in Accounting (for UG and Grad schoalrships) and The Kenneth L. and Ann S. Urish Accounting Honors Scholarship to honor Professor Robert W. Koehler (UG scholarships) and his work in the accounting department.

Vernis Welmon Endowment for MBA Minority Affairs and International Programs. This fund provides scholarships to minority MBA students in Dr. Welmon's name.

David Butt MBA Communication Fund. This fund was established by the MBA Class of 2000 to honor Dr. Butt. The funds are used to support the communication program in the MBA dept.
