Alvin Clemens, ’59, is chairman and CEO of Health Benefits Direct Corporation. HBDC is a company engaged in selling health and life insurance via the Internet. He was also the founder, chairman, and CEO of Academy Insurance Group, chairman and CEO of Provident Insurance Group, and chairman and CEO of HealthAxis. He was appointed by former Pennsylvania Governor Ridge to The Banking and Insurance Transition Team and is co-chairman of the Pennsylvania IMPACCT Commission on Banking and Insurance. He has been a Penn State University Trustee since 1994. In 197, he was named an Alumni Fellow at Smeal. He is on the Advisory Board of Penn State Great Valley and endowed a Professorship of Entrepreneurship to the Smeal College of Business.
