Zan Huang Joins SC&IS PhD Program
Dr. Huang received his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona and a B.Eng. in Management Information Systems from Tsinghua University, Beijing. His research is largely focused on two streams: (1) data analysis and modeling research in application domains of recommender systems, science and technology development, financial markets, and bioinformatics; (2)human-computer interaction research in e-commerce systems such as recommender systems and reputation systems.
He has particularly focused on the application of various graph/network-based modeling and algorithmic methods in his research, including graph search, link analysis, graph topology modeling, and the general relational learning framework that deals with learning from interlinked data objects. His research appears in the ACM Transactions on Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, the Journal of the American Society for Information Science, the ACM Journal on Educational Resources in Computing, and the Journal of Nanoparticle Research.
Dr. Huang will be primarily teaching System Analysis and Design. Before coming to Smeal, he taught Business Data Communication and Operations Management at the University of Arizona.
He is an ad hoc reviewer for Information Systems Research, the ACM Transactions on Information Systems, the ACM Transactions on Internet Technology, the IEEE Transactions on System, Man and Systems, and Cybernetics, the IEEE Intelligent Systems, Decision Support Systems, the Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, Information Sciences, the European Journal of Operational Research, and Information Systems Frontiers.
