Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management
Christopher W. Craighead recently joined the Department of Supply Chain & Information Systems in the Smeal College of Business. His primary research interest is in the area of strategic sourcing/supply management. Professor Craighead has articles published in Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Decision Sciences, European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Research, International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management Review, and other journals. He has been the recipient of several research fellowships, competitive research grants, and research awards. For example, he was co-author on a paper that won the Wickham Skinner Best Paper Award given by the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS). Professor Craighead currently teaches classes in Strategic Procurement and has been the recipient of awards for teaching excellence at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Professor Craighead serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Operations Managementwhere he recently received the Best Associate Editor Award. Prior to this position, he served on the Editorial Review Board of Journal of Operations Management where he received the Reviewer of the Year Award. He is an Area Editor for Operations Management Research and also serves on the Editorial Review Boards of Decision Sciences and Production and Operations Management.
Sandra Transchel
Assistant Professor of Supply Chain Management
Sandra received her PhD from the University of Mannheim, Germany in 2008 and graduated in 2004 with a Master degree in Business Mathematics from the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany. Her current research interest focuses on the interface of logistics and marketing. In particular, she is interested in analyzing problems where pricing decisions are considered jointly with logistics decisions in retail or manufacturing environments.
Lisa Mensinger
Instructor of Management Information Systems
Lisa Mensinger received her MBA from the Frostburg State University, Frostburg, MD, and a B.S. in Marketing from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.
Mensinger teaches Management Information Systems classes at University Park as well as Information Science & Technology classes at the Altoona Campus. She has taught computer classes for the Adult Education Center, Community Education - State College Area School District, as well as computer consultation for individuals. She has conducted various software classes for companies such as Sheetz, MeadWestvaco, Centre County Government, Graymont (PA) Inc., Kunzler Meats, Marlette Homes, Lewistown Hospital, and various local law firms. Prior to moving to Pennsylvania, Mensinger held various positions in human resources for companies in Maryland and Washington, DC.
Mensinger lives in State College with her husband, Brian; two children, Alexander, 14 and McKayla, 10; and her favorite Beagle, Herculies. Her favorite activities outside of work are golf, karate, biking, hiking, archery, and fishing.
Ralph Sees
Instructor of Supply Chain and Information Systems
Dr. Sees received his Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University, his MBA from Syracuse University, and a B.A. in Preprofessional Studies from the University of Notre Dame. Before coming to Smeal, Ralph worked for a defense contractor as the principal consultant assisting in the on-going transition of a SAP-based Enterprise Resource Planning software application from the U.S. Army Medical Department to the Department of Defense, Health Affairs. A retired Army colonel, Ralph has over 27 years experience in medical supply chain management and healthcare operations within the Department of Defense. He led the effort to develop and field the automated logistics system currently used in over 170 DoD medical treatment facilities world-wide. His interests include federal acquisition and program management processes, healthcare supply chain management, and supply chain management information systems. He will teach Strategic Procurement.
Dr. Sees lives in Ramey with his wife, Ann. They have two children, Jennifer and Rebecca, who attend college in Ohio and Indiana.
