David Mitchell entered the Smeal College Ph.D. Program in Supply Chain and Information Systems this Fall. David completed his B.S. in Production Management from Kansas State University. Upon graduation, he joined LSG Sky Chefs as a Production Supervisor and worked there for 9 and 1/2 years, progressing from supervisor to Director of Operations. During this time he worked in the Dallas/Fort Worth, New York (JFK), and Los Angeles operations, as well as years leading an internal consulting team that traveled to multiple operations globally. In his role as Director of Operations at both DFW and LAX, he was responsible for managing a team of more than 15 management members and over 400 employees.

In 2001, David decided to return to school full-time for his MBA at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He completed his MBA in May of 2003 in the top 10% of his class and with a Certificate of Supply Chain Management.

He then joined an organization called eLSG Sky Chefs as Director of Supply Chain Management and Deployment. The focus of eLSG Sky Chefs was the development and deployment of web-based tools to improve information and product flow within the airline and airline catering industries. His main function was to deploy purchasing software throughout U.S. locations. David managed a team of eight individuals to accomplish this task, and they were successful in every implementation.
