Janine Spears Wins eBRC 2005 Dissertation Award
Janine Spears, a PhD student in SC&IS, was recently selected as one of the winners of the Fifth Annual eBusiness Research Center's Doctoral Award Competition with her proposal entitled, "User Participation in Identifying Information Security Risk: An Empirical Study." The award is in the amount of $7,500 towards the support of her doctoral thesis on behalf of the eBusiness Research Center and their corporate sponsor for the Doctoral Award Competiton, SAP America.
Proposals were submitted from top business schools across the country. Each proposal was evaluated by at least four reviewers, at least two of whom were subject matter experts. Every proposal was evaluated on several criteria, including significance of issues/problems for e-Business, the overall quality of the methodology, clarity of the proposal, likelihood that the thesis would result in a paper published in a top academic journal, and how the proposal stacked up against the many research proposals that the eBusiness Research Center has received in the past.
