Jaffe Inspires $500,000 Gift To Former University
Austin Jaffe, who departed the University of Oregon 25 years ago to join the faculty of Penn State's Smeal College of Business, left an indelible impression on his students before leaving. So indelible, in fact, that two of his former students recently contributed $500,000 to Oregon in honor of Jaffe's excellence as a teacher.
Real Estate Professor Honored Twice For Excellence
Abdullah Yavas, the William Elliott Professor of Business Administration at Penn State's Smeal College of Business, was recently recognized as a Fellow of the Weimer School of Advanced Studies in Real Estate and Land Economics. He was also named Outstanding Editorial Board Member of the journal Real Estate Economics .

Jeffery M. Sharp, Associate Professor of Business Law, has been selected to receive the Milton S. Eisenhower Award for Distinguished Teaching. The Milton S. Eisenhower Award for Distinguished Teaching recognizes excellence in teaching and student support among tenured faculty who have been employed full time for at least five years with undergraduate teaching as a major portion of their duties. Milton S. Eisenhower, brother of former U.S. president Dwight D. Eisenhower, served as president of Penn State from 1950 to 1956.
Smeal Professor Earns Real Estate Lifetime Achievement Award
Dr. Austin J. Jaffe has been awarded the 2002 George Bloom Award from the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA). Jaffe is Philip H. Sieg Professor of Business Administration, Director of International Programs, and Director of the Institute for Real Estate Studies at Penn State's Smeal College of Business.
