Best Manufacturing Practices (BMP)
The Office of Naval Research's Best Manufacturing Practices (BMP) Program was created in 1985 to help businesses identify, research, and promote exceptional manufacturing practices, methods, and procedures. Its objective is to empower defense and commercial customers to operate at a higher level of efficiency and effectiveness. To this end, BMP has three core competencies represented by tools and resources that enable organizations to identify and apply best practices and become part of a vast, mutually supportive information exchange network : Best Practices Surveys - conducted to identify, validate, and document best practices, and encourage government, industry, and academia to share information and implement the practices, Systems Engineering - facilitated by the Program Manager's WorkStation (PMWS), a suite of electronic tools that provide risk management, engineering support, and failure analysis through integrated problem solving, Web Technologies - offered through the Collaborative Work Environment (CWE) to provide users with an integrated digital environment to access and process a common set of documents in a geographically dispersed environment.

Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE)
The Institute of Industrial Engineers(IIE) is the world’s largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial engineering profession and individuals involved with improving quality and productivity. Founded in 1948, IIE is an international, non-profit association that provides leadership for the application, education, training, research, and development of industrial engineering. Manufacturers Resource Center (MRCPA) is a non-profit corporation that provides strategic business consulting assistance and identifies resource options to help manufacturers develop strategies to grow, transform and develop their business.
Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA)
Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) is the leading non-profit trade association representing the material handling and logistics industry –- the Industry that makes the supply chain work. Active members are material handling and logistics equipment, systems and software manufacturers; consultants; systems integrators and simulators; third party logistics providers and publishers.

The Objective of the Material Handling Education Foundation Scholarship Program is to promote the study of material handling and to expose as many students as possible to the material handling industry, including the vast array of equipment, systems and technologies represented by the industry; the role of material handling in a productive enterprise; and the many career paths available within the supplier, distributor and end-user (applications) sides of the industry. The Goal of the scholarship program is to encourage choices upon graduation that will ultimately lead to careers within the industry and careers in teaching and research that will prepare the next generation of industry leaders.
National Association of Manufacturers (NAM)
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) mission is to advocate on behalf of its members to enhance the competitiveness of manufacturers by shaping a legislative and regulatory environment conducive to U.S. economic growth and to increase understanding among policymakers, the media and the general public about the vital role of manufacturing in America’s economic and national security for today and in the future.
National Center for Manufacturing Science (NCMS)
NCMS builds cross-industry partnerships to leverage assets, minimize risk and expand resources, allowing timely introduction of new technology in the manufacturing sector. Collaborative teams comprised of developers, providers and users allow companies to engage in a greater range of research and development efforts at a much lower cost than would be possible through independent efforts.
National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science, Inc.
The National GEM Consortium is addressing the critical shortfall in the production of American engineering and scientific talent. Our model is strategic and proven with more than three decades of results. As a nonprofit corporation, our core business is providing graduate fellowships in engineering and science to highly qualified individuals from communities where human capital is virtually untapped.
MS Engineering Fellowship Program
The Master's Program represents the genesis of the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science, Inc. (GEM). Operational since 1976, its objective is to increase the pool of MS minority engineering graduates. Applications are accepted from current undergraduates as early as their junior year in college. Fellows are provided a practical engineering summer work experience through an employer sponsor and a portable academic year fellowship of tuition, fees, and a stipend which may be used at any participating GEM Member University where the GEM Fellow is admitted. Application due November 1.
National Council for Advanced Manufacturing (NACFAM)
The National Council for Advanced Manufacturing (NACFAM) is an industry-led, policy research organization, working collaboratively since 1989 with key leaders from industry, education, and government, to shape public policies and programs to make U.S. manufacturing globally competitive. It convenes its members and other key stakeholders to identify, research, formulate, and communicate proposals in a non-partisan, non-lobbying environment. Participants include small, medium and large manufacturing firms, associations, universities and community colleges, members of Congress and their staffs, federal agencies, and other organizations.
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
From automated teller machines and atomic clocks to mammograms and semiconductors, innumerable products and services rely in some way on technology, measurement, and standards provided by the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Founded in 1901, NIST is a non-regulatory federal agency within the U.S. Commerce Department's Technology Administration. NIST's mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.
National Science Foundation (NSF)
The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 "to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; to secure the national defense…" With an annual budget of about $5.5 billion, we are the funding source for approximately 20 percent of all federally supported basic research conducted by America's colleges and universities. In many fields such as mathematics, computer science and the social sciences, NSF is the major source of federal backing.

Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)
The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has more than 90,000 members: engineers, business executives, educators, and students from more than 97 countries - who share information and exchange ideas for advancing the engineering of mobility systems. SAE is your one-stop resource for standards development, events, and technical information and expertise used in designing, building, maintaining, and operating self-propelled vehicles for use on land or sea, in air or space.
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers* (SHPE)
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los Angeles, California, in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Hispanic community.
The concept of Networking was the key basis for the organization. SHPE quickly established two student chapters to begin the network that would grow to encompass the nation as well as reach countries outside the United States. Today, SHPE enjoys a strong but independent network of professional and student chapters throughout the nation.
Society of Manufacturing Engineers* (SME)
The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) is dedicated to bringing people and information together to advance manufacturing knowledge. SME is internationally recognized by manufacturing practitioners, companies and other organizations as their source for information, education, and networking. Since 1998, the Foundation has provided over $2.5 million dollars in financial aid through its various scholarship programs. The Foundation awards scholarships and fellowships to graduating high school seniors and current students pursuing degrees in manufacturing and related fields at two-year and four-year colleges and at the graduate school level.
Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientists* (MAES)
The Society of Mexican American Engineers and Scientist (MAES) was founded in 1974 to increase the number of Mexican Americans and other Hispanics in the technical and scientific fields. By projecting the positive image of its members and their accomplishments, MAES helps to improve the perception of Mexican Americans. By providing a networking and nurturing environment, members are able to develop and hone their leadership, communication, management, and technical skills while improving the educational state of America.
Society of Women Engineers* (SWE)
The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), founded in 1950, is a not-for-profit educational and service organization. SWE is the driving force that establishes engineering as a highly desirable career aspiration for women. SWE empowers women to succeed and advance in those aspirations and be recognized for their life-changing contributions and achievements as engineers and leaders.
