What are the application deadlines?

  • International students are required to submit their completed application packet by March 1.
  • US students without previous industrial experience should submit their application by March 1.
  • All others, the deadline is July 1.

How can I obtain the status of my application?

Please send an email to qmm@psu.edu , including your full name and social security number (if applicable) to inquire as to the status of your application. If any application materials are missing, QMM will notify you in an e-mail or letter.

When are applications reviewed for admission?

All complete applications are reviewed as they are received. The review process typically takes one to two weeks. An application is not considered complete until all required materials are received and therefore, will not be reviewed until all materials are submitted.

How will I find out if I have been accepted?

When a decision is reached on your application, a letter will be sent informing you of the decision. The department will not provide admission information over the telephone.

Can I obtain financial assistance from your department?

The program does not offer departmental fellowships or scholarships. However, QMM does supplement any fellowships or scholarships that may be available from other departments for qualified students. Please note that the program nominates students who meet the criteria defined by each fellowship or scholarship, but does not make the decision on whether a student will be awarded financial assistance. That decision is made by the department offering the assistance. Applicants who wish to be nominated for financial assistance (if available at that time), should submit their completed application to the QMM program by February 1.

The program does not provide assistantships because typically students are registered full-time, earning 32 credits in two semesters (fall 17 credits; spring 15 credits), and the university prohibits graduate students to complete an assistantship if registered for 15 or more credits in a given semester.
