Scholarships & Awards

High Value

The MMM degree program is an award winning, world-class program integrating business/engineering-manufacturing management. Not only are the career dividends high from the MMM degree, but every effort is made to keep graduate studies affordable. Students complete the program in two semesters of concentrated full-time study and, therefore, only lose nine months of earned professional income rather than two to three years as with most master's degree programs. Few major programs can compete on a cost/benefit basis.

Tuition and Aid

Refer to the Penn State Registrar's for tuition rates. The estimated total cost for books is approximately $1000. Some books are used in more than one QMM course.

Financial aid in the form of fellowships and scholarships to MMM degree students is the exception rather than the rule. The program does not provide assistantships because students are registered full-time, earning 32 credits in two semesters, and this exceeds the number of credits allowed while completing an assistantship. The following is a partial listing of available scholarships, fellowships, and financial aid alternatives. The deadlines for submitting applications vary with each aid program. Since early applicants are most likely to receive aid, the student is advised to apply for aid as early as possible.

MMM Scholarships

The MMM degree program offers merit-based scholarship and fellowship aid to selected incoming students each year.  All applicants are automatically considered for funding, but preference is given to those who apply by mid-January.  Students have been awarded scholarships from companies such as:  Black and Decker, Boeing, Eaton Corporation, WL Gore, Xerox Corporation, an endowment from Daniel and Victoria Folmar, General Motors, Gulfstream  Aerospace Corporation, as well as additional support provided by the College of Engineering and The Graduate School.

Graduate School Fellowships

Awarded to a limited number of scholastically outstanding students, fellowship stipends vary with the type of award. Competition for these awards is high. Applicants who have been accepted into the program and meet the established criteria are nominated by the MMM degree program without the applicant's knowledge.

Minority Graduate Scholars Awards

These fellowships, assistantships, and fellowship supplements are granted as a part of the University's comprehensive Educational Opportunity Program. Stipends and qualifications are the same as for other fellowships and assistantships. Minority Scholars applications are considered as long as funding is available.

Loans

Several forms of low-interest loans and work-study are available to MMM degree program candidates. To be considered for these aid programs, please contact the Office of Student Aid.
