First offered in 2000, Penn State delivers (twice yearly) a resident comprehensive logistics education course that serves as the key tool/implementer supporting military logistics modernization. A non-resident version is delivered worldwide. We expose military and civilian logisticians to both proven and emerging industry best practices to enhance the effectiveness of leaders operating in a joint environment. The curriculum focuses on the integration of inventory management, transportation and distribution, order management, and maintenance within effective logistics chain management strategies.   In this 10-year relationship we’ve created passionate advocates for logistics transformation within the Department of Defense.

For a managed service provider, we designed a benchmark program for senior leaders to enhance strategic development by engendering an unyielding focus on market development, building leadership depth, and improving the capability of leaders to grow their businesses. The program provided perspectives and tools for leaders to identify, analyze, and pursue strategic business development across the corporation and to spotlight market development, customer satisfaction, and organizational systems.

Penn State Executive Programs won the 2010 Chief Learning Officer Gold Award for Excellence in Academic Partnerships for its work with Auntie Anne’s, Inc. to help the company determine its future strategy. With more than 1,070 stores in 23 countries, the soft pretzel franchisor had exceeded the goals of the strategic plan it established in 2006. Smeal faculty worked directly with Auntie Anne’s executive leadership team in a Strategic Planning Process to create a new vision for the company.

“In my five years with JA, this has by far been the best professional development experience that I have the opportunity to participate in.  The program was extremely interesting and helpful for those in management or about to be in management positions.  I learned so much about not only how to effectively manage others, but about myself as well.”

--LeAnne Shockley, Program Director, JA of Western Kentucky

“PSU's work on the executive briefing went so far above what any other university I've worked with has been willing to do -- let alone able to do -- as to place it in a different galaxy entirely.  And the results greatly exceeded anyone's reasonable expectations.  Work like this deserves any honors or attention which can be bestowed.”

--James Seaton, Consultant, SABICLearning, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC)
