BusinessWeek: Top Ten Ranking For Penn State Executive Programs

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (October 18, 2005)⁚BusinessWeek magazine has ranked the Penn State Executive Programs at the Smeal College of Business among the top ten best custom programs in the world.

Penn State's program ranked eighth in the custom category and is the third-ranked custom program among public universities. Prior to this year, Penn State's highest ranking was 11th overall in 1991, the year the magazine first began rating executive education programs. At that time, the results were not divided between open-enrollment and custom programs.

The rankings are based on information provided by executive education providers and from client interviews. BusinessWeek surveyed managers and human resources directors from 163 companies in 22 countries about open and customized executive education programs.

Pat Cataldo, associate dean for executive education, says that Penn State's custom programs process is unique. "Designs are based on in-depth discussions with the program sponsors and a thorough analysis of the organizations' needs," Cataldo says. "Then we select faculty from Penn State, as well as from other universities and corporations, and develop content that uniquely meets our clients' needs."

Penn State Executive Programs has been serving the development needs of the world's leading corporations since 1954, providing both open-enrollment and custom programs. Nearly 36,000 executives from 43 different nations have participated in programs on topics ranging from strategic leadership to supply chain management.
