Smeal Events In Philadelphia To Address Risk Management

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA (March 14, 2006)—Next month in Philadelphia the Smeal College of Business Board of Visitors will host two events featuring faculty, alumni, and friends of the college sharing their expertise in risk management. "Managing Risk Across the Corporation" will begin at 1 p.m. on April 6 at the Westin Philadelphia.

The day will start with an Executive Forum featuring three unique faculty presentations. Keith Crocker, William Elliott Chaired Professor of Insurance and Risk Management, will open the forum with a discussion about employer-sponsored insurance.

Raghu Garud, professor of management and organization and research director of Smeal's Farrell Center for Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship, will then give a presentation about how innovation in the workplace can aid in risk management.

The Executive Forum will conclude with J. Edward Ketz, associate professor of accounting, discussing accounting processes and what organizations can do to control risk in financial reporting.

Following the forum, four prominent executives will participate in a panel discussion and share some of the insight they have gained while managing risk throughout their careers.
